New Zealand

It is hard to adequately summarise a few months spent in this wonderful country. We did full loop of South Island and North Island. Following small flavour.

The definite no 1 highlight was our trip on Doubtful Sound and later on its better known neighbour Milford Sound in Fiordland in SW.

As we went out the mist was down. It slowly rose to reveal dramatic, high dark cliffs – it was like a scene from Science Fiction but an altogether wonderful experience.

Doubtful Sound

Milford Sound on a rainy day, like its Irish equivalent, it gets its fair component of liquid sunshine.

Christchurch

Lovely city – was our arrival point

Sheep Farming – very plentiful

Invercarghill in SW

Where the shopper had a very good retail experience in the shop attached to the local pelts factory.

Wow! View of Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu

Great scenery, great fun – cable car, luge etc.

Franz Josef Glacier on west coast

Fox Glacier

Nelson

Wellington on NI

Reached by ferry from Nelson. A bit like stepping back in time – but a very pleasant experience.

Rotorua – thermals

Bay Of Islands

Auckland from Above

A most attractive city with its Art districts, cafes, etc.
